One valuable lesson I’ve learned in life is that age should never be a barrier to acquiring new knowledge. In 2012, when I was in my mid-forties, I embarked on my blogging journey. While I initially received assistance, I soon realized the importance of learning to navigate my website independently. There were two primary reasons for this: the high cost of outsourcing and the significance of understanding the backend of my site. In the beginning, my best friend captured my outfit of the day photos at work, but as I grew, I began hiring photographers to take professional shots for me.
However, as the owner of an online clothing store, there are times when it’s not feasible to hire a photographer or when I urgently need photos. In those instances, I took matters into my own hands by conducting thorough research, investing in a tripod, and mastering the art of self-photography. With time, I further improved my toolkit to ensure the creation of top-notch shots. While I still collaborate with photographers, it’s empowering to have the skills to handle my business independently. To all my fellow entrepreneurs, bloggers, influencers, and content creators over 50, remember that it’s never too late to chase your dreams and excel in your endeavors. You’ve got this!
